The Ventura County Archaeological Society (VCAS) is offering one scholarship for students studying in the field of archaeology. Recipients will also receive a free year’s membership to the VCAS. Deadline for application receipt is May 1, 2019.

2019 Scholarship Eligibility Requirements:

  • One $250 Scholarship will be awarded to a student attending a 4-year university, leading to an undergraduate degree (B.A. or B.S.) in anthropology/archaeology. The student must be a resident of Ventura County or must demonstrate current research in Ventura County by submitting an approved senior project research design.

How To Apply:
Submit a completed and signed application form.
Submit an essay, not to exceed 500 words, double-spaced and typed, describing the area of archaeology or anthropology you are interested in and how you hope to apply it in your future.
Submit two letters of reference, one of which must be from professor in the field of archaeology, included in a separate, sealed and signed envelope.
Submit one copy each of all college transcripts. These can be unofficial copies. Must have a GPA of 3.0 or greater.

All applications and supporting materials must be received by June 1, 2016. Previous recipients may re-apply. Scholarship winners will be contacted by the end of June. Awardees will make presentations on their studies at the September VCAS General Meeting.
